The Gravity of Love
Finalist for the annual public art event FLUX, Atlanta GA. Shown is a proposal of a macro scale stem and bud forming a new bloom that is partially submerged. Approximately sixty feet in length. The shape is made form layer upon layer of contours, welded and bolted metal, further pronounced by ambient lighting from within.
Closer inspection of the work reveals images throughout the armature, individual illustrated elements that all add up to a larger story of symbiotic life a flower seems to represent. Throughout the length is a series of barreled stainless steel mesh cylinders of varying sizes. The stainless steel will reflect and diffuse the light source. This illumination will contrast against the multiple contoured armature that connect and create the overall shape. Much of the sculpture will oxidize to a natural earth tone.
