FIREWHEEL
Public Art Proposal for Oklahoma City Draper Lake Trails
Design not chosen.
Throughout history humans have created public art in the form of Arches as a celebration of triumph, sanctuary, or honoring a place or person. In the US one such arch celebrates Yellowstone National Park. It reads: For the Benefit and Enjoyment of the People.
The state wildflower of Oklahoma is the Indian blanket, also called Firewheel. It is a symbol of Oklahoma's scenic beauty as well as the state's Native American heritage. The art is intended to be an iconic work that distinguishes Oklahoma from other places.
